Frequently Asked
Questions:
1. What
Makes Michigan Fleet Master The Better Option When Selecting
Vendors?
Our flexability and dedication are
the foremost reasons. The vast majority of other companies cannot compete
with us. We're available when and where the customer needs us to be. Lets
not forget our pricing, we strive to remain below industry standard when
it come to the services we offer. Assisting with maintenance budget
control is also a key solution.
2. Why
Don't You Perform Every Repair In-House, Why Only Most or
90%?
Think of Michigan Fleet Master Co., as
your fleet's "Family Doctor". On occasion, we will need to refer you to a
specialist. It all comes down to providing our customers with the highest
level of quality and service possible.
Two perfect examples of
this would be... Say you have a vehicle that needs an Engine
ReManufactured.
Performing such services requires a shop to
maintain specialized and expensive equipment and man power. While your
vehicle may go into a shop for this once in its service life, the repair
shop must be able to offset their cost of maintaining such expensive
equipment in order for it to remain profitable for the shop owner. How do
they do this? by applying the overhead as a "fixed cost", which means
they have to keep their shop rates higher to justify the fact that it
is not used as often as basic equipment. So you end up paying more
for common repairs to offset the shop owners cost on the special
equipment.
Next, because engine rebuilding is not as common as lets
say brake services, most mechanics have much more experience with brake
repair. Our philosophy is simple, we would send it to an Engine
Rebuilding affiliate because that's what they do. Engine rebuild
shops are considered specialists, they do not perform brake services,
they rebuild engines, day in and day out. No one can rebuild an engine
better then a professional engine rebuilder.
So, while we may lose
out on the profit from performing the repair in-house, we've actually
performed a better service to our customers because we can keep our rates
lower with less overhead, and a engine rebuilt by a specialist, not a
mechanic.
Make sense to you?
3.
Why Are You Not Open To The Public?
We are
dedicated to our fleet customers exclusively, meaning we cater to them.
Our technicians are not tied up with "Walk In" customers, and
therefore more readily available to meet the demands of our account
customers. This fact also means we do not have to publicly advertise,
lowering our overhead... which helps keep our rates much lower than
industry standard.
4.
Why Can't I Send My Vehicles To a "Privatized" Repair
Center?
Our "privatized" repair centers are just
that... privatized. Dedicated strictly to the customers that holds the
contract. Meaning, only their vehicles are serviced there. Our general
shop is located in Livonia, and we also offer on-site repair and
maintenance.
5. Why Don't Michigan
Fleet Master Perform All Services On-Site?
Again, this come down to
quality and expediency. The outdoor atmosphere is a haven for dust, dirt,
moisture, etc. Many services should be performed in an enviroment free of
such contanmination. Also, some repair require the use of equipment which
is simply not portable. Studies also show that most average repair
times are extended when performed in the field (onsite), and being
that we (like all others) bill according to time required, it becomes more
cost effective for our customers to have their vehicle repaired in shop.
However, we do offer a vast number service which can be performed
onsite, just not all of them.
